Neale

Dana Davis Neale, 89, of Tappahannock, passed away January 24, 2014.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 65 years, James T. Neale. Dana retired from the Virginia Dept. of Health after 40 years as a purchasing manager. She is survived by her loving sister, Jean Biddle; and nieces and nephews.
Visitation for family and friends was. at Jerusalem Christian Church, 1902 Powhatan Trail, King William, where services were held on Tuesday at 4:30 p.m. Interment was at the church cemetery

Jones

Francis P. Jones died on January 22, 2014.  He was born on December 29, 1924 to Lilla and Thomas G. Jones II in Urbanna, Virginia.
He was married to Ann Doar Jones for 64 years.  They had two children, Francis Jones, Jr. and Beverley Upshur, and three grandchildren.
He was a World War II veteran and served in the Navy for three years.  He retired from Westvaco, a forest products corporation now named MeadWestvaco.  At retirement he was manager of Virginia Folding Box Company in Richmond, Virginia.
He and his wife moved to Northumberland County and spent 20 odd years on the banks of the Yeocomico River before moving to Warsaw, Virginia.  He loved to hunt, fish and play golf.
He grew up in Tappahannock, Virginia, graduated from Christ Church School and attended Hampden Sydney College before joining the Navy in 1943.
He was a member of Cople Parish Episcopal Church.  He is survived by his wife and children and grandchildren.
A memorial service was held at 2 p.m. on Monday, January 27, 2014 at Yeocomico Episcopal Church with interment in the church cemetery. The Reverend Ellen White and the Reverend Allen Hooker officiated.

Lewis

Lydia Clark Lewis, 94, of Village, passed away on January 11, 2014. Lydia was born November 15, 1919. She was a beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. Lydia joins her husband, Chester Lewis; parents, Hiram and Caro Clark; brothers, sisters, son-in-law, Bob Everhart and grandson, Ronnie Estep.
She is survived by her two daughters, Goldie Everhart and Mary Ryan; sister, Madeline Coates; 8 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, 5 great-great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
A graveside service was held at 11 a.m. on Monday, January 13, 2014 at Totuskey Baptist Church Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Totuskey Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, c/o Grayson Smith, 152 Smithville Lane, Warsaw, VA 22572.

Ashlock

Tina Johnson Ashlock passed away January 13, 2014. She was born April 26, 1962 in Baltimore, Md. to Mabel Johnson and Pearley “Jr” Johnson.
She was a member of Lyells Chapel Baptist Church, Haynesville. She received her education in Baltimore Public Schools.  Tina furthered her education to become a nursing assistant in Baltimore and in Warsaw.  Tina also worked in construction.
On Sept. 27, 1995, Tina married George Ashlock.
Tina was preceded in death by her father and her brothers, Larry and Pearley, Jr.
Surviving are her husband, George; son, James E. Kimble Jr. and special friend, Sheeree Smith; stepdaughter, Nashell Fauntleroy; five grandchildren, Jamaria,. Jaywaun, Dae¹Shawn, Nate¹Quan, NeVaeh; her mother; three siblings, Dennis X, Tyrone Johnson and Deborah J. Richardson (Reggie); lifelong friend, Rachael Allen, and a host of family and friends.
Funeral services were held January 18 at Lyells Chapel Baptist Church, Haynesville. Interment service were held at the church cemetery.

 Ball

Elizabeth Louise Logan Ball passed away January 19, 2014. She was born November 28, 1944 to Helen Logan Henderson.
Betty Lou was educated Lancaster County public schools.
Betty was employed by Coburn Optical and Conrad Seafood.
Betty Lou joined Queen Esther Baptist Church at an early age.
Betty Lou was predeceased by her mother; grandparents, William James and Madeline Earle Logan; an uncle, Bernard Logan; cousin, Shirley Tucker and mother-in-law, Pearl Ball Mason.
Surviving are her husband of 49 years, Clarence R. Ball; sons, Reggie (Dawn) Ball and Rynell (La¹Kisha) Ball; daughters, Lolita (David) Patterson and Cheryl (Rev. Kenneth) McDonald; a loving cousin, Ella Logan Artis; her stepfather, Joseph Howard; sister, Ursula Taylor; brothers, Thomas Jr., Leroy (Bertina), Gerald Robinson and Lewis Robinson (Pat); eight grandchildren; three great-grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were held January 26 at Queen Esther Baptist, Lancaster. Interment services were held at the church cemetery.

 Blue

Eula Lee Blue passed away January 15, 2014. She was born April 15, 1923 in Nuttsville to Noble Lee Sr. and Bessie Carter Lee.
She was a member of Beulah Baptist Church, Lively where sang in the Beulah Senior Choir and was a member of the Missionary Ministry.
Eula was joined in Holy matrimony to the late Marion Blue on Dec. 26, 1959.
Eula was employed for many years at RCV Seafood, Morattico, Va.
Surviving are grandson, Harold Christopher Lee Jr.
(Dionne); granddaughter, Tina Bushrod (Timothy); four grandchildren, Harold Christopher Lee, III, LaPorche Bushrod, Isaiah Bushrod and Ebony Bushrod; stepdaughter, Mary Blue; devoted niece and care giver, Dorothy V. Ball; sister-in-law, Martha Lee, and a host of nieces and nephews other relatives and friend.
Funeral services were held January 19 at Beulah Baptist Church, Lively.
Interment services were held at the church cemetery.

 Goddette

Elsie Wiggins “Sister” Goddette passed away January 21, 2014. She was born June 26, 1935 to Delilah and Paul Wiggins in Browns Store.
She was educated in Lancaster Public Schools; was employed at Lake Cowart Seafood Company and was a member of Morning Star Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Charles L. Goddette; brothers and sisters, Paul, Leavern, Freddie, Ophelia and Gloria.
Surviving are her daughter, Delilah E. Graham; two sons, John M. Wiggins and Charles L. Goddette; five granddaughters, Latonya Graham, Lamara Graham, Shorvon Goins, Quintasia Graham and Angela Ball; six grandsons, Jaheim, Ray, Sincere, Kavaree, Daziya and Kaymon; a sister, Marie Conley (James Conley); a brother, David Wiggins; devoted friend, Coreen Tate; five nieces, Phyllis, Tamara, Carlette, Shirlene and Vonciel; two nephews, Maurice and Anthony, and a host of other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were held January 26, at the Morning Star Baptist Church, Browns Store.
Interment services were held in the church cemetery.

Holden

Clara Elizabeth “Beth” Holden passed away January 11, 2014 at the Crofton Rehabilitation and Convalescent Center. She was born January 16, 1924 to Annie Cannady Howard.
Clara was educated in Northumberland County schools.  She married Lonnie Holden and moved to the Washington, DC area where she worked for a number of years before returning home.
Upon her return, she worked for Lake Packing Company until 1965 and at H. W. Warshow & Son in Tappahannock for 30 years before retiring in 1995.
She was an active member of Zion Baptist Church until her health failed and she moved to Upper Marlboro, Md. with her daughter.
She was preceded in death by her sons, Lonnie Holden and Winston Cannady; mother and sisters, Lucille Howard, Novella Samuel and Maxwell Parker.
Surviving are her daughter, Patricia Cannady; daughter-in-law, Janis Cannady; four grandchildren; three great-grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were held January 18, at Zion Church, Lottsburg.
Interment services were held at the church cemetery.

Vanlandingham Lewis

Nettie Vanlandingham Lewis, 93, of Lottsburg, passed away January 7, 2014. Mrs. Lewis was the widow of Lester Lewis and Collins A. Lewis, and was a retired Inspector for Arrowhead in Montross. She is survived by her sons, Lester Ray Lewis of Richmond and Larry C. Lewis (Joyce) of Lottsburg; and her grandson Matthew Lewis (Sarah) of Salisbury, MD. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m., on Friday, January 10 at Bethany Baptist Church in Callao, with interment in the Bethany Cemetery. The family received friends from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Thursday, January 9, at the Welch Funeral Home, 10300 Richmond Road, Warsaw.
