Just like a kid in a fishing candy shop

Did you get to go fishing this week? A little challenging this week for me, but still, I managed to wet my line. I didn’t catch much, a few sticks, some grass, a stump and one small bass. Being out there in the majestic beauty of God’s creation is what it’s all about. Relaxing and having fun.
This weekend was the Richmond Bass and Saltwater Fishing Expo, did you get to go? It was an amazing time. There was a kid casting booth, a chance for the kids to actually catch fish and see them swimming around, lots of vendors, giveaways, and seminars. Something for everyone. Whelan’s Marina was there. I went two of the three days and really enjoyed it all. Got to talk with the pros and learn some new techniques and hone others. Now I get to put what I learned into practice.
Oh course, the highlight for me was talking with Elite Pros Randy Howell and John Crews. Randy is a good old Alabama boy who fished a lot of Virginia waters early on in his career. He is a really nice guy, who loves his family and quality time with them and his fishing. And John is a Virginia native, born in Richmond, grew up in Amelia County and still lives here in Virginia. He also went to Randolph Macon and got his degree from there. Of course, getting him to sign my Macon hat was a highlight and made my daughter Tiffany very excited. Both of them are very down to earth guys. Family is very important to both of them. And getting the kids into the outdoors is a big part of what they do.
A kid in a candy shop, that was me…
