Maurice Winston Balderson
Maurice Winston Balderson, 84, of Warsaw, went to be with the Lord on Friday, October 4, 2013. Mr. Balderson was a member of Welcome Grove Baptist Church, a retired D.C. Firefighter and a Korean Navy veteran. He was the widower of Joyce Green Balderson.
He is survived by his wife, Karen Feaga Balderson; two sons, Kevin Michael Balderson (Gretchen), Pace, FL and Derrick Joseph Balderson (Kathy), Sunderland, MD; stepsons, Tony McGillin (Karin), New Freedom, PA, and Andy McGillin (Tammy), Bel Air, MD; stepdaughter, Jenny McGillin, Lanham, MD; brother, Gayle Balderson and sister, Jeane Woolson, Hampton; four grandchildren, Bridgette, Brett, Ava, and Faith Balderson and five stepgrandchildren, Bryan, Matthew, Joey, Carly and Courtney McGillin.
Funeral services were held Monday, October 7, 2013 at Welcome Grove Baptist Church. Reverend Willard Bowen and Reverend Philip Godwin officiated. Interment was in the church cemetery. Pallbearers were Tony McGillin, Andy McGillin, Butch Saunders, Chris Kues, Edwin Fallin and Mike Barber.

Bettie Louise Faunce Howeth
Bettie Louise Faunce Howeth peacefully went to be with her Lord and Savior on Sunday, September 29, 2013 at the age of 79. Bettie is predeceased by her parents, Capt. Joseph Melvin and Louise Mary Faunce and sister, Barbara J. Wise. She is survived by William E. Howeth, her loving husband of 52 years. They were married at the Naval Chapel at Anacostia Naval Base, Washington DC on November 12, 1960.
She is lovingly remembered by her children, Joseph William “Billy” and wife Pam, and Jeffrey Lee and wife, Dawn; grandsons, Joseph William Howeth II and wife Danielle and Robert Edward “Robbie”; great-grandchildren, Maddox and Willow Howeth and loving cousin, Gladys Ann Heuer.
Bettie was born in Mt. Holly in 1934. She graduated from Washington and Lee High School in 1951 and went on to earn a secretarial degree from Pan American Business School in Richmond. She worked for the US Dept. of Agriculture before her marriage. She was a member of Nomini Baptist Church and enjoyed gardening, baking and spending time with her family.
Funeral service and celebration of her life was held at Welch Funeral Home, Montross at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 2 with the Reverends Darren & Jessica Williams and Bobby Greene officiating. Interment was in Nomini Baptist Church Cemetery. Pallbearers were Mahlon Jones, John Hassell, Michael Nash, Gil Balderson, Keith Balderson, Ronnie Saunders, Billy Hall and Dennis Goodman.
