Thomas A. Jones

 

Thomas A. Jones departed this life suddenly on Friday, September 20, 2013. He was born March 30, 1952 to Arthur Wormley and Lee Jones I Haynesville. He was educated in Richmond County public schools and was baptized at Lyells Chapel Baptist Church.

Thomas worked in Tappahannock Manor for many years before going to work for Hanover Healthy in Richmond where he worked for 20 years before recently retiring as an environmental specialist.

He was preceded in death by his father and mother; two brothers, harden Jones and George Herbert Jones; three sisters, Florence Lucille Jones, Lucy Blue and Lillian V. Smith.

Surviving are his wife of 42 years, Mary Diane; four daughters, Lisa (Albert) Ochoa of Tappahannock, Min. Tiffany (Rev. Criss Sr.) Tate of Richmond, Thomasine Jones of Richmond and Taishonna Taylor of Tappahannock; two sons, Jermaine (Stephanie) Jones of Richmond and Shaun Luccard of Mechanicsville; four brothers, Joe (Rachelle) Gaines of Warsaw, Charles (Shirley) Jones of King George, Danny Jones of Tappahannock and Robert (Debbie) Jones of Ashburn; six sisters, Gladys (Mack) Veney of Oldhams, Mary (Wayne) Robinson of Warsaw, Geraldine Greene of Lacrosse, Irene (David) Smith of Haynesville, Francis Fisher of Virginia Beach and Norma Jean (Wallace) Shelton of Warsaw; five grandchildren, Javon Slater, Tierra Tate, Criss Tate Jr., Anthony Jones and Angel Jones and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Services were held Thursday, September 26 at Lyells Chapel Baptist Church, Haynesville with interment following in the church cemetery.

Services entrusted to Weldon-Fisher Funeral Home, Warsaw.

 

Julia Catherine Newsome Haynie Hall

 

Julia Catherine Newsome Haynie Hall born February 13, 1925 in Lottsburg, Virginia, died September 26, 2013 in Waldorf, Md. Her parents were Homer Julia Dodson and James Wesley Newsome.

She was preceded in death by her husbands, Herman Edward Haynie Sr. and Melvin Booker Hall. She is also preceded in death by her brothers, Irving, Robbie, Marion, Talmage, Kenneth and James Newsome

She is survived by her children, Katherine H. Darby, Herman E. Haynie Jr., James C. Haynie, Thomas D. Haynie; four grandchildren Herman E. Haynie III, Lauren Haynie Roberts, Thomas D. Haynie Jr., Daniel E. Haynie; One step grandchild, Marisa Clodfelter. Two great grandchildren: Emily L. Roberts, Austin Clodfelter.

She is also survived by two brothers, Paul J. Newsome and Gilbert G. Newsome, and one sister, Doris Newsome Parr.

The family received friends at Smithland Baptist Church in Heathsville on Tuesday October 1, from 11 a.m. – noon. Funeral Services followed at the church. Burial was be held at Smithland Baptist Church Cemetery in Heathsville.

Mrs. Joan Gallagher Wilkins

 

Mrs. Joan Gallagher Wilkins, 80, of Warsaw, passed away Saturday, September 21, 2013. She was the widow of J. Robert Wilkins and a member of Totuskey Baptist Church.

Survivors are her sons, John R. Wilkins, Jr.(Donna)  of Glebe Point,  E. Gary Wilkins (Carolyn) of Kilmarnock and David W. Wilkins (Wanda) of Farnham;  daughter, Janet Wilkins Wright (Michael) of Mechanicsville; brother, Gilbert E. Gallagher of Warsaw; sisters, Gazelle Baird of Chance, Shirley Ingram of Richmond and Vera G. Langford of Tappahannock; and six grandchildren, Victoria Rose Shell (Brandon), Joshua Wright, Christina Wright, Mary Hunt (Broaddus), Elizabeth Sanders (Dan), and Kevin Wilkins; great-grandchildren, Payton Shell, Bayleigh Shell and  Judson Hunt; step grandchildren, Stacey Davis, Heather Oliver (Morgan), Carol Coates (Daniel), John Bryant, Jordan Bryant and Brandy Payne; step great-grandchildren, Nora Bowles,  Willee Bowles, Caden Beynon, Chase Bryant and Chance Bryant.

A funeral service was held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, September 26, 2013 at Totuskey Baptist Church. Pastor Danny Maupin officiated. Pallbearers were Norris Harper, Kevin Wilkins, Joshua Wright, Henry Woolard, Broaddua Hunt and Brandon Shell.  Memorial contributions may be made to the Totuskey Baptist Church or to the Hospice of Virginia.

 

Nellie Mae Tallent Swann

 

Nellie Mae Tallent Swann, 79, of Warsaw, passed away on Monday, September 23, 2013. She was the widow of Aulbrey Nelson “Dickie” Swann, a self-employed health caregiver and a member of St. Paul’s Episcopal Church.

Survivors are her son, Kenneth Wayne Swann, Sr. of Warsaw; her daughter, Dee Dee Swann Bradshaw (Mark) of Warsaw; two sisters, Annie Self and Marie Conners; ten grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren.  In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her sons, Dusty Swann and Brad Swann and her siblings, Robert D. Tallent, Sr. and Florence Burton.

Funeral services were held at noon on Wednesday, September 25, 2013 at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church with interment in Nomini Baptist Church Cemetery. The Reverend Christopher Agnew and Pastor Robbie Swann officiated. Pallbearers were Roger Hutt, Merle Hutt, Shawn Isbell, Adam Clark, Regan Clark, Davian Hutt, Ralph Self and Edward Self. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, 1819 Neenah Road, Montross, VA 22520.
