Trojans golf team leads way in region
A little over a week away from the final district competition, Northumberland and Lancaster are now keeping pace behind the defending district champion Essex Trojans.
On Sept. 10, Larkin Gross of Essex was crowned medalist with a round of 2 under par 33 in a tri-match against Lancaster and King William. Essex won the
match with a score of 156 followed by King William with 170 and Lancaster with 183.
Gross was followed by his teammate Carter Morgan with 36, Charlie Bussler with 40, Andrew Suggs with 47.
Alex Nelson scored the lowest for Lancaster. He was joined by Patrick Kelley with 46, Shawn Valdrighi with 49 and Nick Nonnemaker with 50.
Rappahannock won the tri-match against Northumberland and Middlesex with a low score of 168 on Sept. 10. Middlesex ended the day with 205 and Northumberland with 174.
On Sept. 12, Essex won a tri-match against Rappahannock and Middlesex at Quinton Oaks Golf Course. Larkin Gross of Essex was medalist with a round of even par 35. His team finished with a score of 155 including Bussler with 39, Morgan with 40 and Clark with 41.
Rappahannock’s Chance Herbert ended the day with a score of 37, Lance Wheeler and Adam Campbell followed with a score of 40, Seth Elborn with 47 and Austin Scott with 48.
Northumberland won the dual match against Lancaster 186-199 at the Golden Eagle on Sept. 12.
Nelson (Lancaster) had the lowest score of the match 38 followed by teammate Kelley with 62, Nonnemaker with 53 and Valdrighi with 46.
Northumberland’s Adam Parker led the team with 43 followed by Josh Long with 45, Matthew Harris, Trent Newsome and Cody Weicht with 49, and Brendon Saunders with 50.
