Young to conduct revival at Angel Visit Baptist Church

When the Reverend Leonidas Young steps into the pulpit to conduct revival at Angel Visit Baptist Church at Dunnsville next week, it will be very much a homecoming for him. He will be returning to a place for which he has many fond memories. His grandfather, the Reverend William Amos Young, served as pastor of Angel Visit for nearly fifty years.

While he credits his grandfather for providing the primary influence for his career decision, the ministry runs generations deep in his Essex County family, going back at least to the middle of the 19th century. Young first became pastor of the Bethel Baptist Church in Gloucester at 18. He served at Bethel and New Hope Baptist Church in East Orange, New Jersey, for several years, before moving home to Richmond to accept the pastorate of Fourth Baptist Church.

Young will conduct revival at Angel Visit Baptist Church on Aug. 12. He will be joined by the choir and mime ministry from New Kingdom Christian Ministries. The prayer and praise service will begin at 7:30 p.m. with the worship service beginning at 8 p.m.
