Top two students named at Aylett
Laura Marie Milstead
Aylett Country Day School has named Laura Milstead as Aylett Country Day School’s 2013 Valedictorian and Lauren Harter as the 2013 salutatorian.
Laura Marie Milstead is the daughter of Mark and Anne Milstead of Warsaw, Virginia. She has attended Aylett Country Day School for the past 11 years.
While at Aylett, Laura has been on the volleyball, cross country, basketball and track teams. Laura was the recipient of the ACDS Board of Directors Award, and the Daughters of the American Revolution Citizenship Award. Laura has acted in several plays including Missoula’s Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs.
She also holds many titles in gymnastics on the local, state, regional and Junior Olympic level. In her free time, Laura enjoys reading and spending time with her family and friends. Laura plans to attend Rappahannock High School in the fall.
Lauren Harter is the daughter of Dale and Tracy Harter, of Tappahannock. She first attended Aylett in EC-5, attended Tappahannock Elementary School for kindergarten and first grade, John Wayland Elementary School in Bridgewater from second through fifth grades, then returned to Aylett in sixth grade.
She enjoys reading and writing in addition to singing, acting, and playing basketball. She has enjoyed singing in the Northern Neck Middle Peninsula Area Chorus with Aylett for the last two years and acting in ACDS school plays.
Her eighth grade year has been busy! She spent countless hours acting in the Westmoreland Players production of A Christmas Carol, was a starter on Aylett’s varsity basketball team, for which she was awarded Best Offensive Player, completed confirmation classes at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Mechanicsville, and maintained an academic record strong enough for her to apply for and be awarded a renewable Daingerfield Day Student Merit Scholarship for St. Margaret’s School beginning this fall.
