This year the Warsaw Richmond County Chamber of Commerce wants to recognize and thank Tom Rhoades for his many years of dedicated service to our community.
Born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Mr. Rhoades attended high school in Falls Church, spent a year at Bridgewater College and five years at the University of Virginia. He has been married to his wife, Kay, for 57 years and they have three adult children who live all across the state of Virginia. Deb lives in Warrenton and works for the Federal Government, Rod lives in Staunton and works as the City Senior Planner, and Pam lives in Smithfield and works in the Hampton School System as a Literacy Specialist.
Mr. Rhoades has always cared deeply about the less fortunate and has been on 57 major mission efforts and many 1 day efforts. He has since slowed down, but was previously involved with many local non-profits. What many people don’t realize is that Mr. Rhoades is the man behind the Enchanted Forest right here in Warsaw. He has always enjoyed carving and nature. He had an opportunity to buy the property on Wallace Street and began carving pictures into the trees. Soon the children began requesting cartoon characters and the Enchanted Forest grew!
The town of Warsaw is so appreciative of all the hard work and time Mr. Rhoades puts into to making this a place to live, works, and play. His carvings are all one of a kind and people of all ages enjoy walking the trails and finding butterflies, crabs, lighthouses, Big Bird, Linus, Iron Man, and so many others. The town of Warsaw is also so thankful for the amazing carving he did in the Town Park of the logo. His work is amazing and if you haven’t been to The Enchanted Forest, you really should go!
Thank you, Mr. Rhoades for all you do!
